Our students are our future. Virtually all of our first-year associates come from our own articling and summer students, so we put resources, time and effort into helping you develop your full professional potential. Student ProgramsSummer and articling students at Lang Michener work directly with our associates and partners in an open, collegial atmosphere on important client files. Your work and your professional development are equally important to us. Students are encouraged to take on responsibility and to have direct client contact whenever possible. OrientationYour student program begins with orientation sessions designed to acquaint you with the firm, our procedures, and resources. You will receive training in the use of research resources, including QuickLaw, Westlaw eCarswell, provincial and federal statutes, and our extensive collection of precedents and memoranda of law. Mentors and PrincipalsYou will be assigned a mentor (as a summer student) or an articling principal (as an articling student) who will serve as your guide and resource. You will be given a regular opportunity to discuss your work, workload, and other matters. Our mentors and principals are consistently praised for their dedication and helpfulness to their students. Our open, communicative and non-hierarchical environment offers you the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge with plenty of resources and as much guidance as you need. Our OfficeStudents are provided with their own offices and with secretarial services, and full access to an excellent library with professional librarians eager to help you. Students also receive regular evaluations which are designed to help them build the skills necessary to become successful lawyers. Compensation and BenefitsSummer and articling students are offered pay and benefits that are competitive with other major firms in the Toronto market. Please see the links above to our specific sections on summering and articling for additonal details, and to meet our current summer and articling students.
